Christmas in Valencia
Valencia in December is synonymous of magic and Christmas spirit. Undoubtedly, in your getaway to the city of oranges and paella, you should dedicate a day to walk around Valencia’s historical center and admire its atmosphere.

You just wound’t be greeted by hundreds of Christmas decorations, but also by several Christmas markets that you can visit. Take advantage of them to do your last minute shopping. We recommend the best Christmas markets in Valencia:

Plaza de la Reina Christmas Fair
More than thirty places full of craft products and Christmas items that will soak you in the Christmas spirit. It will be open until January 8.

Christmas market of the City of Arts and Sciences.
You’ll find pure Christmas magic in this market that, not only will have craft stalls, but also will offer a program full of activities and games for the little ones of the house. The best family plan! From December 16 to January 8.

Valencia Central Market
Although the Valencia market will continue offering the same products as always, a beautiful flea market will be installed next to the enclosure that will sell handmade objects, jewelry and other products. From December 10 to January 6.

The Perellonà in the Albufera Natural Park
In December, the Albufera lake is transformed into a natural spectacle known as the Perellonà. A unique phenomenon throughout the year that floods the landscape, submerging the rice fields, paths and irrigation ditches under a watery blanket.

The Perellonà is the result of the floodgates of the Albufera, the so-called "perellones", which are strategically closed in November and December. This action stops the flow of the Júcar and Túria rivers, allowing the water to accumulate and expand the surface of the lake until it becomes one of the Spain largest lakes. But only for a few days.

You can not miss this natural phenomenon of Valencia that reaches its peak in the last month of the year.

City of Arts and Sciences
This architectural complex is the cultural epicenter of the city, where the Science Museum stands as the entrance to a universe of knowledge.

In this fascinating place, science is made tangible through diverse activities of scientific dissemination. Talks and conferences are given to awake curiosity and expand knowledge. Also L'Hemisfèric is an outstanding giant 3D screen that projects films and documentaries about science and nature, transporting viewers to unknown worlds.

Even if you don't visit any of the exhibits nor take advantage of its activities program, it is always a good idea to go for a walk in the surrounding area. There is a pond surrounding the museum where you can rent a boat and sail in its waters.

And for lovers of the marine world, the Oceanográfic of Valencia is a must-see excursion in the city. Take advantage of your Christmas holidays to visit the largest aquarium in Europe!
